True Story of How I Moved My Savings From Zero To Six Figures

Let me welcome you by sharing my story and my journey to financial recovery after hitting rock bottom and how I was able to get back on the investment grind. It won’t be very long I’ll hit the major points quickly.

My journey back to savings & investment started when I had to take a business trip to a country in  Europe which was impromptu and it was going to be a game changer but I had no means to fund my trip because I had no money saved up for such emergencies.

Apparently I had just left a job where I was being owed about 6 months’ salary so that was my legit excuse but believe me that excuse for not having any savings is not good enough. In actual fact that was my fourth company and I had been working over 13 years so why no savings??

It suddenly dawned on me that I was living paycheck to paycheck and being owed salaries for 6months compounded my financial issues. I had worked for thirteen (13) good years but had no tangible savings or investments whatsoever.  So here I was staring at a golden opportunity but no funds to make it real.

I did some deep reflections which brought me to tears and I made up my mind my money habits had to change so, right after that experience I reached out to a friend who happens to be my financial coach and accountability partner after that day and we set out my own customized financial plan which is what I will be sharing in this program.

I have been following these steps for about 5 years, however, I have  stumbled on my way and learnt many lessons improving my understanding of  savings, how to choose investment options and how best to make investment decisions.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Hi everyone, I am Bisola Yejide Atie. I am a Commercial/Business Aviation Manager
My journey in aviation started in 2005 with Aero Contractors in the newly designed call center at the time. Through hard work and determination to grow in this sector after 4 months I was promoted and moved to the commercial department as a sales/marketing representative. I spent 3 years there learning about commercial aviation in the scheduled and non-scheduled aspect of aviation. This made me further quest for more knowledge and I was again promoted and moved to the Corporate Development and Strategic Planning Department as a Client Services officer. All of these experiences fueled my passion and interest and I moved again from to join the start-up team of TopBrass Aviation as the Client Services Manager and there we pioneered the use of private jets for time-share programs and designed marketing packages that was of immense benefit to our clients and succeeded in working extensively with the oil and gas companies with these packages. After some months being in TopBrass I became the Head of the commercial department a position which I currently hold till 2015.
I joined various organizations Business Jet Aviation organizatios from 2015-2019 from their start-up phase to execution and profit generation phases as team lead for business development and on the field-marketing.

Financial Independence Journey

My interest and journey in personal finance and becoming financially independent is one of self-discovery and hunger coming from a background where lack and not having enough was the order of the day. I didn’t want my future to look anything like what I passed through growing up so I read books and studied materials on anything that had a promise of making me rich.

After years of studying and understanding and also learnt knowing where, how and who to ask for financial advice and at any opportunity I found someone who knew more than I did and has results to show proof of financial success glued myself to them.

And of course after many years of self-education and seeking advice once I started earning money I put my money out there and tried my hands after saving and living a life of self-denial and delayed gratification which is synonymous with my name…I learnt the ropes of savings and investments.

All I share about finances are practical tips, not textbook knowledge (although they helped) but it is a journey of constant continuous improvement in savings and investment learning and graduating from the school of hard-knocks, mistakes and wrong decisions. I can now say,  I can confidently teach and guide you based on what I have learnt and experienced over the more than fifteen years of practical saving and investments and desire of a lifetime and inspire I you as well a burning desire to never be poor.

Mentoring Young Ones:

She believes and is passionate about peoples “Dreams” and people living their lives to their fullest potentials. She organizes platforms for “Catch-them-Young Programs “, inspired by the need to transfer skills, craftsmanship, and know-how to children and young adults. She has been on various platforms to teach money management skills and other financial literacy skills to children and their parents.

Whilst not engaged at work she admits to being an internet research addict and absolutely enjoys reading and taking family vacations.

Bisola holds an MBA from the University of Leicester U.K and has had various trainings extensively in corporate and business aviation, marketing, customer service and numerous personal finance related trainings. She also possesses a Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from Chartered Management institute UK.

She is a speaker and has been featured on various media platforms including Treasures Of The Mind (TOTM) a radio program on Rainbow 94.7 FM. She also speaks at corporate organisations and women support groups
